It's no surprise that many brides turn to Pinterest as an invaluable tool for planning their weddings. I couldn't agree more. It's an incredible resource for gathering inspiration and ideas. Are you engaged and using Pinterest to plan your wedding, but feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information? Well, Pinterest can be an inspiration overload, with countless wedding advice infographics and an endless stream of beautiful images. You create your wedding Pinterest board, only to discover that recreating those ideas for your wedding comes with a hefty price tag from your florist or wedding planner. Or one day you think you have all the planning needed to execute your wedding. Only to find some new better visions on Pinterest. So are you back to square one then? And how does this cycle end? It can be incredibly frustrating and confusing, no?

By the time you finish reading this post, you'll have all the tools you need to navigate Pinterest for your wedding planning journey. From the initial inspiration to your final sparkler exit as you head off on your honeymoon. So, let’s get started!

Go Down the Rabbit Hole

Yes, you read it right. Before you come up with a definite theme for your wedding, be open to everything and anything. Try to search general terms on Pinterest and then when it says “show more suggestions.” Let it! Trust me this is how you’ll know what’s better and what’s a more doable thing whatsoever. The point being, do not restrict yourself in the initial days of planning that this is what I know I would love to have. Instead be flexible and open to new suggestions and ideas from Pinterest.

Use It the Right Way

First things first. Create your Pinterest account and you'll notice that you have your own profile where you can create different boards with various titles. As you begin exploring Pinterest, you'll come across images that inspire you, and you'll have the option to save them to specific boards. So, it seems logical to create a "Wedding" board and save all your inspiration there, right?

Well... before you dive into creating just one board for all your wedding inspiration, take a moment to consider all the different elements of your special day. From the flowers and decor to your hair and makeup, your dress, and more. The list goes on and on.

If you allocate only one board for all your wedding inspiration, it could quickly become overwhelming, containing hundreds of pins. This can make it incredibly confusing when you need to make actual decisions or share your vision with someone else!

Time to Un Pin

Now, when you’re over the initial phase of choosing what you like and what you don’t. It’s time to get realistic. Once things start to get real which means that the time to start executing the plan is here. You should start unpinning the things that you know won’t serve you. Could be due to the budget restrictions or maybe they require a lot of effort. Whatever the reason may be, just try to keep things real now. It will provide you clarity and a direction as well. This is the time to get realistic which means maybe the outdoor venue picture that you love so much is from somewhere in Thailand or Greece. Now obviously you won’t be able to replicate the beaches or the vibe of these places. So choose wisely!

Start Selecting the Vendors

Now, once you’ve narrowed down the options on your boards, it is time to select the vendors. Have a look at all the boards that you’ve created for all things separately. And try to find a common theme among them. This will help you in gaining a vision of what it is that you’re actually looking for. Maybe it’s the color that’s common in all the boards or the floral element or absolutely anything else. Find the point of commonality and then maintain your focus on that while choosing the vendors. This can prove to be the deciding factor while choosing and shortlisting them.

Finally, Stop Pining & Start Planning

Once you've made a decision for your wedding, it's time to shut down the inspiration spiral. For instance, after purchasing your wedding dress or finalizing details with your caterer, it's essential to step away from Pinterest. And if you have any bridal magazines lying around, it's time to recycle those and clear your mind too.

Now, I'm not suggesting you delete your Pinterest app or your wedding boards altogether. However, it's crucial to recognize that constantly seeking new inspiration once you've made decisions can actually be counterproductive. This continuous influx of inspiration can lead to second-guessing your choices. Hence causing unnecessary stress and potentially even increasing your wedding expenses.

Adding last-minute DIY projects or making changes too close to your wedding date will only add to your stress levels. Purchasing items or making alterations at the last minute can also end up costing you more money than if you had planned ahead. For example, if you've already bought your wedding dress but then find another one you like better, rush-making the new dress will be much more expensive. Additionally, the costs of returning the first dress can quickly add up.

Take Your Time!

Take your time, do your research, and once you've made your decisions, it's time to shut down the wedding inspiration. Trust your choices and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your wedding plans are set in stone.
