However, when you see two people officiating their love and being so happy with everything you’ve done. The tough part gets forgotten easily. Becoming a wedding planner is a rewarding job. Like a gardener when you see the plants of happiness coming out of the seeds of your efforts, the tiredness vanishes in a blink of an eye.

So, how does one actually get started? Especially when you have no experience. Well, you have Shadiyana and our aim is to help with all things wedding. So let’s have a deeper look at some useful tips to become a wedding planner.

Gather Some Experience

There are many ways you can choose to get some experience in the field. A few of the easier ones are given below. In some parts of the world, there are professional courses and diplomas available for this. However, unfortunately Pakistan lacks the opportunities of training in this field. So what can we do about it?

We are Pakistanis, of course this shouldn’t be a problem for us. We literally have a season dedicated to weddings. With big families and huge social circles, it is rare to not attend any wedding for more than 6 months. Yes, this is our life and we love it.

So, whenever you attend a wedding be sure to be extra observant about little details like venue, the seating arrangement, contemporary trends, etc. You can also try to be one of the organizers with your friends or family. Get involved with wedding vendors and market research to expand your horizons of options. This information will make you more equipped and able to organize these events. Knowing what can and cannot go wrong will help you immensely if you want to become a wedding planner.

Likewise, an even better way to get some experience would be to do an assistantship or internship with a company that is well-known in the market. You can earn valuable lessons and experiences at their expense. It will be their projects and management but you can learn by being a part of it. It does not have to be a big involvement from you. Just assisting would work just fine.

Working for Someone vs Working for You

Now ,in no manner are we depicting that working for someone else is below working for yourself. But it is a choice that needs to be made early on. While you’re working or interning for some company, decide if you enjoy being the follower or the leader. This entails that once you have the experience, it is time to get into some real business. Depending upon the finances available to you, whether you want to open up your own business or not.

And mind you, both of these options have their pros and cons. So, choose yours wisely. If you think you work better as a leader. Or that you are capable of overlooking and managing a lot of things at once, then by all means go for your own business. But if you think you want to lay low and work with a company. Maybe initially. Then opt for that.

Remember you won’t be planning one wedding at a time. Which means you need to multi-task either way. As a team member or leader.
